Getting to the Sahara

November 8, 2015 —Yesterday, Saturday November 7, 2015, our TST crew flew to the Trans-Saharan region, where they discovered a variety of elements important to the region. Reporters mentioned that once we they landed at the civilization’s home area, the Arabs told informed the group of reporters about an incident that would cause them to have to walk through the dry, hot desert. This brand new information that was received alarmed the crew and made them worried. What type of incident would cause a group of reporters to walk through the Saharan desert? Once our crew investigated what this “incident” was about, they sent us the information. Camels. These majestic creatures of the desert are refusing to work. The TST crew decided to dig deeper on the details of this breaking news.

Digging Deeper

What the reporters have now discovered is that there is a reason behind the camel’s strike. Just like many human beings, camels are exhausted of their low wage and poor working conditions. They walk through the desert back and forth carrying an immense variety of goods without getting even a thank you from the Arab merchants. Not only this but as the reporters have discovered, many of their destinations are cities of gold. Upon this realization, the crew went to investigate these so called “golden cities”, which are composed of golden buildings and roads.  Not only did they find out that the cities were in fact made out of 24k gold but also, due to the heat, the gold roads get burning hot and the camels footwear is not adequate.

Infuriated Camels

As our investigators learned more and more about this event, they encountered the creators of the strike. One of our reporters, Nayeli, approached who seemed like the camel’s leader. Our reporters got some first hand information through an interview. When asked what it was that was really infuriating them, the leader answered “We are very mad about the conditions that we are put through. If it wasn’t for us, those merchants would be nothing!” After some more questioning, our crew indulged in a pool of information. The camels are the ones that carry the goods around. They are the ones that have to walk and withstand thousands of pounds on their backs. They stated that “those ungrateful travelers (Ibn Battuta and Marco Polo) were some of the worst people that we’ve had to work for”.

More on Ibn Battuta and Marco Polo

Hearing about the hate towards some of the best travelers of all time ignited some doubts. WHat was it about the travelers that made them so bad to work for? Well, it turns out that the TST reporters found out that travelers like them are the ones to get all the merit and recognition while the ones that actually do the work are the camels. One of the camel’s leaders stated “Imagine how much Ibn would have covered of the Saharan Desert without us, nothing, not even a block.” Due to this declaration, our reporters are now convinced that this is not only a problem regarding treatment but also recognition.

About the Goods

On the same trip,  many of our researchers found out that the goods traded by the arab merchants were not in fact original. They had copied many of these “original products” from the civilizations nearby. This has not only caused commotion from the buyers but the surrounding civilizations seem to be placing a lawsuit on the merchants. More information on this event is to come, TST News is still waiting on some of the details.
